Alright For Now
May 2018- August 2019
C-41 photographic scans & digital photographs
‘Alright For Now’ is about the coming of age and romanticized memories. The work studies the relationship between a shared, American cultural identity and my personal expression of femininity. Within this are themes of understanding body, sexuality, and gender.
The stories, places, and objects that appear foster an idealized remembered womanhood. (Both culturally and personally.) Included in the work are icons and symbols that represent my upbringing and identity.
The title of the work is a song my mother sang to me as a child: Tom Petty's 'Alright For Now'
